PostSubject: My OU Stall Team.   Thu Jun 03, 2010 2:48 pm

Tyranitar (M) @ Chesto Berry
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP/32 Atk/224 SDef
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Stone Edge
- Payback
- Rest
- Stealth Rock

This thing OHKOs Azelf. It sets up sandstorm for general residual damage and to boost Aero's Sp. Defense. Plus only two members of my team take damage from it and they both have leftovers which basically cancels it out.
---
Vaporeon (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 188 HP/252 Def/68 Spd
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Wish
- Protect
- Surf
- Roar

Vaporeon is amazing. Just a couple minutes before writing this I took down a +3 DD Gyarados that had Taunt and Bounce. With Surf. It was amazing. It was sort of a fluke though and I'm thinking about replacing something with Hidden Power [Electric] to make it like a perfect Gyarados counter. (for those unaware, Vaporeon's ability makes Waterfall heal it rather than do damage). It's really good for stalling stuff out and passing Wish to my other team members (Forretress for instance).
---
Forretress (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP/4 Def/252 SDef
Careful nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Toxic Spikes
- Payback
- Rapid Spin
- Gyro Ball

Specially defensive Forry. It can actually take a lot of special hits and still set up Toxic Spikes. Payback to destroy spinblockers, rapid spin to get rid of hazards, gyro ball for more coverage (I may replace this with explosion because right now a lot of stuff can set up on Forry).
---
Skarmory (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP/240 Def/16 Spd
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Torment
- Protect
- Spikes
- Roost

Skarmory and Forretress on the same team seems weird, but Forretress takes special attacks very well and Skarmory takes physical attacks. This is a weird set, but basically you use Torment on the switch and then Protect, Spikes, Protect, Spikes, etc. Although it doesn't always work very well. I'm thinking about changing this to a Taunt set (Note: Torment makes the opponent unable to select the same move twice in a row).
---
Aerodactyl (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 208 HP/104 Atk/148 Spd/48 SDef
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Substitute
- Roost
- Whirlwind
- Rock Slide

Pressure makes the opponent lose twice the PP. This thing is surprisingly bulky. Basically its purpose is to stall out the opponent with sandstorm damage, poison damage, and entry hazards if i get a whirlwind in. Pressure, the sp. def. boost from sandstorm and aero's crazy speed make this work pretty damn well.
---
Rotom-h @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Overheat
- Hidden Power [Ground]
- Trick

This is my Lucario counter, among other things. It also makes a pretty good revenge killer.

How has this team been working out for you?

Honestly not too well. My defensive coverage isn't particularly good, which is a problem. There are some things that can really just take down the entire team. I need to change some stuff.

I've been making some changes. I replace Vaporeon with Suicune, I made Rotom a defensive Will-o-wisper with thunderbolt/shadowball/overheat and I made Skarmory the standard Taunt set. It's defenitely been working better but I haven't played that many battles with it in its new form. I'll get back to you guys.

i think vaporeon would be a better choice than suicune, but idk what suicune has and how it performs since my jolteon/gengar raped it.

So I changed this up a bit.

Swampert (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP/4 Atk/252 Def
Relaxed nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Ice Beam
- Roar
---
Rotom-h @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/168 Def/88 Spd
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball
- Overheat
- Will-o-wisp
---
Forretress (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP/4 Def/252 SDef
Careful nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Toxic Spikes
- Payback
- Rapid Spin
- Spikes
---
Blissey (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 Spd
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Wish
- Protect
- Seismic Toss
- Toxic
---
Zapdos @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 248 HP/76 Spd/184 SDef
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Substitute
- Roost
- Thunderbolt
- Roar
---
Gyarados (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP/248 Def/12 Spd
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Waterfall
- Roar
---

Basically Skarmory and Forretress together just wasn't working out. So I put spikes and toxic spikes on Forretress. It's actually been working pretty well. I also decided that Zapdos would do Aero's job better, so I changed that, and because i no longer needed sandstorm without Aero, I put in a Swampert lead. Swampert is just an amazing pokémon all around. Really.

Oh, did I mention I've been using this team almost entirely on the Suspect ladder? It's just like the normal ladder except without Salamence.

I also put in a Rest/Sleep Talk Gyarados because I've been told that it functions incredibly well in this metagame. From what I've seen, this is pretty true. It's a pretty great counter to the two most popular pokémon at the moment, Heatran and Infernape.

One of the problems with the team as it is now is that I have Toxic and Will-o-Wisp on Blissey and Rotom, respectively, and with toxic spikes they're actually useless most of the time. I'm considering replacing Will-o-Wisp on Rotom with something else. I'm not sure what yet. I also might just replace it with Gengar. We'll see.

rotom is better spinblocker because rotom doesn't get ohko'd like gengar.
